Ambassador Bridget Dakyes is the Founder and Executive Director of Women and Girl Child Rescue and Development Initiative a Non Governmental Organisation based in Jos, Plataeu state.
As a compassionate peace builder, social and economic enterprenuer, life to her means making lasting impact in the society, this is evident in the commitment of her passion, energy and resources towards advancing the welfare of women and children.
she presently works on women and communities affected by violent conflict which has characterized the state for some years leaving many women devastated in inability to cater for their basic needs.
She uses her NGO at ensuring that the women are empowered to be self reliant in caring for themselves and their children. The multiplying effects of her project in training women on how to produce reusable sanitary pads has been awesome and impactful as the production helps to; promote and enhance their hygiene, generate sales of the product to get money for themselves and their children, involve and train their fellow women in the production, packaging and branding of the product.
Her organisation takes on the burden to look out for the women, empowers and mentors them on the various ways to improve their self worth and self reliance. Speaking about her activities, she affirmed that it is gratifying to see the women producing, packaging, branding, growing in the business and involving other women.
"We engage in several activities that empower women, we just concluded the reusable sanitary pads production for women in communities in Plateau, we are encouraged seeing our women growing. We will be extending it to Adamawa state and in due time we will see how we can include more states"
With the support of her partners Women for Women International and Mission 21 in Switzerland, her activities also involve sensitization of women on the importance of participating in elections and the need to be supportive of women in politics at the various levels of government.
