KUJE PRISON ATTACK: BUHARI EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT OVER SECURITY INTELLIGENCE GATHERING PROCESSES
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is disappointed about the processes of intelligence gathering on issues of security in the country. He stated this when he personally paid a fact finding visitation to Kuje prison, a main correctional center in Abuja that was attacked early this week. Questioning the circumstances surrounding the attack, he pointed out that the extent to which lives and properties are destroyed unabated in the country needs reformations in security intelligence gathering and ability to counter the attacks. He charged the stakeholders to produce comprehensive reports on the attack. The Kuje jail break which is one of the incidences of terrorism and unrest across the country led to the death of about four people, injured victims and escape of over six hundred inmates, with a proportion of it said to be detained terrorists. Meanwhile, stakeholders have stated that about four hundred out of the escaped inmates have been rearrested.
