CIPPON INAUGURATES ABUJA CHAPTER, ADVISES GOVERNMENT AGAINST FOREIGN PRINTING
The Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria, CIPPON, has inaugurated the Abuja chapter as parts of its efforts towards growing the printing industry in the country. 

The event held Thursday in Abuja featured the official swearing in of the pioneer executive committee and induction of new members.

The National President of CIPPON, Amb. Niyi Adesoye, who conducted the inauguration explained that the establishment of state chapters is to regulate membership, handle the challenges in each state so that best practices and standards can be maintained in the industry.

He said that CIPPON council has acquired land from the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, to build its headquarters adding that state coordinators will be activated in the 36 states of the federation.

The keynote speaker, Dr Daniel Itanyi, lecturer department of printing technology, Kaduna Polytechnic challenged government to make adequate provision for patronage of printing industry in the country instead of taking the work and its benefits to foreign countries.

Commending the federal government for use of home based industry in printing of materials for 2023 elections, he advised on patronage in census materials, national schools' materials and other government publications.

He said that government needs to reduce the tarrif on printing machines to the barest minimum to avoid the huge expenses because most of the equipment are outside the country and are difficult to acquire due to the high exchange rates.

He charged practitioners to always expose themselves to new technology pointing out that printing is a highly confidential job that requires confidentiality to encourage better patronage from public and private organizations.

In her message, chairman of the Abuja chapter, Mrs Olajumoke Owoeye requested her inaugurated pioneer executives, other stakeholders and members to unite with her towards taking printing practioning to greater heights in the FCT and across the country.
