President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the minister of water resources Engr Suleiman Adamu to lead and coordinate the ministries of environment, transportation and state governments to develop a comprehensive plan of action for prevention of flood disaster in the country.
A statement by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said that the President’s directive, which was conveyed to the minister in a letter signed by his Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari
said that the plan should be presented to him in 90 days.
It started that President Buhari is regularly receiving updates on the flooding situation in the country and restates his commitment towards addressing the challenges caused by the disaster in the country.
It would be recalled that recent flooding in different parts of the country destroyed many lives and properties.
