INVESTING IN RURAL COMMUNITIES WILL END INSECURITY ----- Senator Mustapha
The Chairman, senate committee on states and local government administration, Senator Olalekan Mustapha has called on the relevant authorities to invest in rural communities to end all the forms of insecurity bedeveiling the country .
He stated this on monday in Abuja at the Local Government Economic Summit organized by the committee in collaboration with Civi-Pact Nigeria and that of Local Government Summit Group with the theme, "Investing in Rural Poor for shared prosperity through the local Government System".
He emphasised that states who are yet to pass the local government autonomy bill should do the needful so that they can be free to make decisions in order to improve the lives of the people in the localities.
"engaging the youths is paramount and the best thing we can do to end this problems in our various communities. Our rural communities needs to be prioritize to end idleness from our teeming youths", he said.
He noted that micro finance banks are the only financial institutions that can be found in every local government in the country to serve the people better .
He stated that micro finance banks reach out to community dwellers who specialize in micro businesses, adding that the banks also collaborate with the various cooperative societies in the local governments to reach out to the people.
